34 Housing Authorities Receive HUD Capital Funding

U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development

On August 8, 2013 the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded more than $20.5 million to Connecticut to maintain and improve public housing. The funding will go to 34 housing authorities throughout the state through HUD’s Capital Fund Program which provides funding annually to all public housing authorities to build, repair, renovate and/or modernize the public housing in their communities.

The capital funds provide the resources necessary for public housing stock to make the repairs necessary to increase the long-term life and economic viability of the buildings. Among the repairs the capital funds make possible are roof replacements and energy efficiency upgrades.
