Bridgeport/Stamford Posts Low Opportunity Score

In partnership with the White House, Redfin recently launched Opportunity Score, which rates cities based on access to jobs without the use of a car. It also provides median prices for homes as well as the types of jobs in the area. This resource is intended to help families find affordable homes, inexpensive commutes, and jobs that match their skillset.

An Opportunity Score of 100 reflects a home with the highest level of job access. Scores are weighted by population to account for competition.

Connecticut’s Bridgeport/Stamford metropolitan area ranks 48th out of 50 major metropolitan areas. It has an Opportunity Score of 7. Miami, FL and Detroit, MI were the only cities on the list with lower scores, at 6 and 3 respectively. The cities with the highest scores were San Jose, CA, Milwaukee, WI, and Albuquerque, NM, with scores of 70, 63, and 59 respectively.
