CBPP Releases CT Rental Assistance Fact Sheets

Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP)

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) posted new and updated fact sheets addressing federal and state level rental assistance. These fact sheets provide charts and tables that illustrate who needs and receives rental assistance.

The vast majority of households in Connecticut that receive some form of rental assistance include children, seniors, and people with disabilities.  Over three-quarters of households that receive rental assistance, excluding seniors or people with disabilities, are employed or were recently employed. These households are primarily concentrated in urban areas. Only three percent of Connecticut HUD-assisted households live in non-metro areas.

Most of the Connecticut households that need rental assistance are not receiving it and are paying more than half of their income on housing. Many of these households include children, seniors, and people with disabilities.
