CBPP Releases Housing Data Fact Sheets

Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP)

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) has created a new data fact sheet for public housing agencies, advocates, and policymakers to help identify the usage of Housing Choice Vouchers and federally funded rental assistance programs. CBPP data examines the number of poor households who receive housing vouchers and housing assistance from state and local housing agencies. Moreover, it provides data on the number of federally authorized vouchers and the percentage of voucher utilization across public housing agencies. The fact sheets are accessible online and provide quarterly data as well as annual data of each state.

According to CBPP’s data:

  • In Connecticut 35,000 families used the Housing Choice Voucher in 2014.

  • Approximately 81,000 low-income households received federal rental assistance to help pay their rent in 2014.

  • 489 fewer households were served in Connecticut in 2014 compared to 2012, likely due to sequestration cuts.
