Connecticut Expanding Affordable Housing Opportunities

Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced the state is awarding $10,649,077 in grants and loans to eight projects and programs that will directly create 131 units of affordable housing and foster the development of many more. The Department of Housing is administering the funds through the Affordable Housing Program to provide grants, loans, loan guarantees, and deferred loans for the development and preservation of affordable housing.

“Increasing the supply of all types of affordable housing is one of the best ways we can build stronger communities, reduce homelessness, promote transit-oriented development and improve the quality of life for our residents,” said Governor Malloy. “These are smart investments that are making a real difference in peoples’ lives.”

The following projects and programs received funding:

  • Chrysalis Center, Hartford – $2,976,000
  • Brookside Commons Supportive Housing, New Milford – $1,998,597
  • Fairfield Commons II Supportive Housing, Stamford – $1,187,000
  • Beacon II, Stamford – $1,460,480
  • Bridgeport Affordable Housing Loan Program, Bridgeport – $1,000,000
  • Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity, Hartford, New Britain, and East Hartford – $1,500,000
  • Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut, Eastern Connecticut – $375,000
  • Connecticut Housing Coalition Affordable Housing Academy, statewide – $197,000
