Urging people who are homeless toward financial stability can be accomplished through banking initiatives, and through asset-building initiatives, according to a brief from the National Alliance to End Homelessness

Fostering Financial Literacy and Security for Populations Experiencing Homelessness explores the Bank On program, as well as individual development accounts. The BankOn program strives to help households that either do not have a bank account or households that have bank accounts but also use alternative financial services providers with access to free or low-cost starter bank accounts in addition to financial education.
