Former NC Representative Takes Over at FHFA


Earlier this month, former Rep. Mel Watt (D-NC) was sworn in as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, which oversees Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two government-sponsored enterprises that back most single-family mortgages in the U.S.

In a statement, Watt called the housing finance system “one of the keys to our economic recovery.” He announced early on that he would delay a series of loan-free hikes.
