Gov. Malloy Announces Projects Receiving Brownfields Funds

On June 30, 2016 Governor Malloy announced a $7.9 million investment to 14 municipalities to support the redevelopment of brownfield sites that span 187 acres. The Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is allocating these funds to transform contaminated sites into environmentally safe projects that benefit their surrounding communities financially.

Remediation and redevelopment projects:

  • Bristol - 894 Middle Street: $1,339,000 
  • Cheshire - 493 West Main Street: $750,000 
  • Colchester - 139 Westchester Road: $518,000 
  • Enfield - 98 Prospect Street: $550,000 
  • Hartford / Hartford Housing Authority - Chester A. Bowles Park: $2,000,000 
  • Middletown - 27 Stack Street: $825,000 
  • Portland - 222, 230, and 248 Brownstone Avenue: $750,000 
  • Stamford - 1056 Washington Boulevard: $362,000

Assessment Projects:

  • Berlin - 73 Woodlawn Road: $35,600 
  • Derby (Valley COG) - 251 Roosevelt Avenue: $85,000 
  • East Lyme - 224 Main Street: $200,000 
  • North Haven - 250 Universal Drive: $200,000 
  • Torrington - 200 Litchfield Street: $100,000 
  • Waterbury - Freight Street District: $198,000
