Governor Announces $18 Million in Housing Grants to 11 Municipalities

 

On November 21 Governor Malloy announced $18,335,000 in grants and loans to fund thirteen affordable housing developments in the state-sponsored housing portfolio.

“The Department of Housing and the Connecticut Housing Financing Authority (CHFA) are combining efforts, when feasible, to pursue a multi-layered approach to help fund housing developments in the State-Sponsored Housing Portfolio,” said Evonne Klein, Commissioner of the Department of Housing (DOH).  “It’s an approach that includes financing from CHFA or private sources, equity investment through tax credit allocations, and gap financing from DOH to address capital needs of developments all across the state.”

$17 million will go to the four projects below:

  • Danbury – The Glen Apartments
  • Hartford – Historic Townley Street
  • New London-Londonberry Gardens
  • Westport – Sasco Creek Apartments

$1.6 million will go towards predevelopment grants for early-stage development costs for the following nine proposed project:

  • Bristol - $215,000 for Zbikowski Park
  • Enfield - $480,000 for Enfield Manor, Enfield Manor Ext., Woodside Park, Ella Grasso Manor and Windsor Court
  • Glastonbury - $70,000 for Cobbs Mill Crossing
  • Hartford - $90,000 for Rose Garden Co-op
  • Middlefield - $65,000 for Sugarloaf Terrace
  • Naugatuck - $250,000 for Oak Terrace
  • New Britain - $90,000 for Security Manor, Inc
  • Norwich - $375,000 for Sunset Park
