House Passes Omnibus Appropriations Bill; Mixed Bag for Federal Housing Programs

National Housing Conference

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the federal omnibus appropriations bill late on December 11, setting FY15 funding levels for a dozen federal agencies, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The funding levels included in the omnibus bill negotiated by Congress and the White House offer a mixed bag for housing and homeless assistance programs. While most programs are funded at levels close to prior years, advocates have warned that these levels - particularly for the voucher programs – will be insufficient to maintain current assistance levels.
