U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has issued the final FY 2016 Income Limits. Of the 10 HUD Metro Fair Market Rent Areas (HMFAs) in Connecticut, seven saw decreases in the median family income (MFI) which is based on a 4-person household. The most significant decrease came from the Norwich-New London HMFA which declined 12.9% from $87,000 in 2015 to $75,700 in 2016. The Income Limits in the remaining HMFAs that experienced a decrease ranged from .8% to 6.2%.

The three HMFAs where the MFI increased – Colchester-Lebanon, Milford-Ansonia-Seymour, and Stamford-Norwalk - rose by no more than 3.5 percent.
