HUD Releases Notice on Prioritizing Vulnerable Populations

U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development

The U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently released a notice on how to prioritize those who are chronically homeless and other vulnerable homeless populations for permanent supportive housing.

HUD intends the notice to be a guide to help Continuums of Care (CoC) and those that receive CoC Program funding for permanent supportive housing determine what order eligible households should be served to ensure that their resources are being used for the most vulnerable populations. By ensuring that homeless individuals and families with the most severe needs are being prioritized, the possibility of achieving President Obama’s goal of ending Veteran and chronic homelessness by 2015 becomes more real.
