HUD Seeks to Expand Housing Protection for Victims of Domestic Violence

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) final rule Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013: Implementation in HUD Housing Programs expands protection to HUD housing programs for victims of domestic violence. It ensures that individuals are not denied assistance or evicted from their homes due to their status as survivors of intimate partner violence. The rule requires housing providers to create an emergency transfer plan for tenants who fear for their safety in their current home.
