Meet the Partnership Interns

My name is JR Dowd and I am a rising senior at the University of Connecticut. Through working at Partnership for Strong Communities, I’m looking forward to learning more about the issues the Partnership works closely with, as well as getting a better picture of what it takes to work for an NGO. With graduation and the job market fast approaching, non-profit work is one of the avenues I have considered.

My name is Angela Pollard and I’m from Middletown, Connecticut.  I am a sophomore at Yale University on the pre-med track and I’m considering majoring in sociology.  I hope to be a pediatrician or primary care physician active in public health policy to improve access to affordable, quality care.  This summer, I look forward to learning about the intersection of health and housing and the complex housing policies that shape what life is like for Connecticut residents.

My name is Elise Ursin and I am a rising senior at UConn majoring in international relations and human rights. I am at the Partnership because through my academics, I have cultivated a passion for social justice. The work of civil society to address big issues—like housing and homelessness—fascinates me and I hope to learn everything I can about how an organization like this effectively tackles such a daunting cause.
