New PSA Publicizes Foreclosure Assistance Hotline

CT Dept. of Banking

Thirty-second audio spots about the Department of Banking's foreclosure hotline are being made available to members of the Connecticut Broadcasters Association. The spots are recorded in English and Spanish, and emphasize that there is help for people facing foreclosure.

"Settlements with national banks and state-sponsored assistance events have helped thousands of Connecticut residents stay in their homes," Attorney General George Jepsen said. "These announcements will remind homeowners where to call for help if they need it."

"Many people across Connecticut have trouble with their mortgage every year, but foreclosure can often be prevented.  Homeowners should not be afraid or embarrassed to ask for help.  Callers to the hotline, at 1-877-472-8313, will receive advice, guidance, and valuable resources," Banking Commissioner Howard Pitkin said.

Volunteering in the spots were Miguel Alverez and Jamie MacKenzie. Assistant Attorney General Joseph Chambers, Finance and Senior Policy Advisor Susan Kinsman were also involved.
