More Than $11 Million Awarded to 26 Municipalities in HUD Small Cities Grants

 

On July 31, 2013, Governor Malloy awarded $11,850,000 to 26 municipalities through the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development Small Cities grants. These grants will be administered by the state’s new Department of Housing.

Housing Commissioner Evonne Klein expressed her excitement over the economic development the grants will bring to Connecticut:“The projects being undertaken with this funding are integral to achieving a Connecticut where affordable housing is accessible in strong, vibrant communities statewide.”

The towns receiving funding:

  • Ansonia — $400,000
  • Ashford — $400,000
  • Beacon Falls — $400,000
  • Brookfield — $400,000
  • Canterbury — $400,000  
  • East Hampton — $800,000
  • Ellington — $450,000
  • Groton — $400,000   
  • Hampton — $450,000
  • Killingly — $750,000 
  • Lebanon — $400,000
  • Ledyard — $300,000
  • Naugatuck — $400,000
  • New Fairfield — $400,000
  • Plainfield — $400,000   
  • Putnam — $400,000 
  • Roxbury — $400,000
  • Salisbury — $600,000
  • Southbury — $400,000
  • Sprague — $500,000
  • Thompson — $800,000
  • Torrington — $400,000
  • Vernon – $400,000
  • Waterford — $400,000
  • Windham — $400,000
  • Woodstock — $400,000
