SAMHSA Opens SOAR TA Applications for CoCs

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications for the SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery (SOAR) Technical Assistance (TA) Project. SOAR, a federal project, helps states accelerate the entrance of people who are homeless or at risk with serious medical conditions into Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) programs.

SOAR TA offers:

  • A planning forum to create an action plan for local SOAR implementation.
  • Participation in a Leadership Academy, which teaches details of implementation.
  • Technical support, including online materials and help with SOAR Fundamentals training.
  • Access to SOAR Online Application Tracking (OAT).

SAMHSA is accepting one application per Continuum of Care (CoC) and will select five CoCs to participate in the program. The application must be 3-5 pages and outline how the CoC would fulfill the project requirements.

Applications are due February 9th at 5:00 pm Pacific, and CoCs will be chosen by February 27, 2015.
