USICH Publishes New Guidance on Ending Chronic Homelessness

U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH)

The United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH), in partnership with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, has published new guidelines on the criteria and benchmarks communities should work towards to end chronic homelessness.

The criteria focus on outreach, data collection, and shelter assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness or those at risk of experiencing homelessness. It also reinforces the implementation of the Housing First approach as the preferred method for addressing the needs those experiencing chronic homelessness and highlights 90 days as the benchmarks for ensuring that the system is effectively working to prevent individuals from experiencing chronic homelessness.
