Vibrant Communities Initiative Grant Funds Available

The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation’s Vibrant Communities Initiative (VCI) allows municipalities to use historic rehabilitation as a means to re-use downtown buildings and revitalize the community. VCI, funded through a grant from the Department of Economic and Community Development, has awarded funds to 10 municipalities so far: Waterbury, New Britain, Bolton, Hartford, New London, Lebanon, Danbury, Bridgeport, Norwich, and Wethersfield.

There are currently 5 grants available to help municipalities create plans to revive and reuse cultural and historic assets in their communities. All applications are due by 4 PM on Friday, July 12 at the CT Trust offices at 940 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT.
