The federal government has placed a moratorium on all evictions and foreclosures in federally-backed properties during COVID-19. This moratorium covers over 177,000 properties backed by various federal funding sources. However, many residents of federally-backed properties may not know that the federal government is subsidizing their landlord's mortgage. A new searchable database, created by ProPublica, allows users to check whether they are covered by the federal moratorium on evictions and moratoriums.

The database also includes a map of state and local eviction and foreclosure moratoriums. 31 states, including Connecticut, are covered by statewide moratoriums.
