Fairfield County's Center for Housing Opportunity and Urban Institute have released a new report titled "Housing Connecticut’s Future: Meeting the State's Affordable and Accessible Housing Needs." This report discusses how changing demographic trends necessitate the creation of additional affordable and accessible apartments for Connecticut's growing senior population.
The report provides town-by-town estimates of the need for affordable and accessible housing, and offers recommendations for the state to meet this need in the coming decades. The report's authors conclude that "the state can accommodate its senior population and foster more efficient labor markets by producing, preserving, and protecting housing that is affordable and accessible."
Fairfield County’s Center for Housing Opportunity is a regional partnership between Fairfield County's Community Foundation, Partnership for Strong Communities, Regional Plan Association, and Supportive Housing Works. The Center "facilitates the intentional production, preservation, and protection of a full spectrum of housing that fosters communities of opportunity accessible to all Fairfield County residents."
