Partnership for Strong Communities joins with advocates, policymakers and so many others across Connecticut in mourning the sudden passing of Shawn Lang on October 17th. Shawn led a life devoted to improving the lives of our state’s most vulnerable citizens, including those faced with housing insecurity. Shawn worked for decades on issues affecting the LGBTQ community and others, fighting to meet the housing needs of Connecticut residents living with HIV/AIDS.
In 2011 the Reaching Home campaign recognized Shawn for a remarkable career of advocacy awarding her the Reverend Richard Schuster Supportive Housing Advocacy Award. Her memory lives on in the improved lives of so many of Connecticut’s most vulnerable residents – the ultimate reward for a life of advocacy.
