House Panel Approves Bill to Benefit Homeless Veterans

The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity approved H.R. 3298, the Homes for Heroes Act, on Dec. 8. The legislation, introduced by U.S. Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), was approved by voice vote.

H.R. 3298 would establish the position of Special Assistant for Veterans Affairs at HUD to improve coordination of housing services for veterans with the federal government. The legislation would also mandate the annual submission of the Supplemental Veterans Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR).
