The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of Multifamily Housing published its July 2017 newsletter highlighting a year in accomplishments.
HUD reports production increases including a 14% increase in the pipeline volume from a year ago, as well a 10% increase in Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) deals. The report also highlights investments in the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program, a federal program allowing public housing authorities to leverage public and private dollars for the development and maintenance of affordable rental properties. HUD reports a $4 billion construction investment in public and private funds through RAD, as well as completion of conversions in more than 63,000 units.
The report also announces the publication of new and updated policy materials, including updates to the Section 8 Renewal Guide and new guidance for the implementation of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA), which are available on the HUD Office of Multifamily Housing website.
