HUD’s New Guidance Protects Individuals with Limited English Proficiency to Access Housing
28 September 2016
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s new guidance “Limited English Proficiency” highlights that property owners cannot use a person’s inability to communicate in English as the ground for denial of housing. The guide states that housing discrimination and housing practices claim based on limited English proficiency are protected under the Fair Housing Act.
