Stephanie Berman, Executive Assistant, Partnership for Strong Communities
As Executive Assistant at Partnership for Strong Communities, I have the opportunity to help a lot of different people with a variety of tasks. This year, I’m very excited to be helping out with the Partnership’s #GivingTuesday campaign!
Not familiar with #GivingTuesday? It’s an event held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, which this year falls on November 28. After two days of getting shopping deals – Black Friday and Cyber Monday - on #GivingTuesday we have a day for giving back to others. It’s a great way to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate on improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the organizations and causes they support.
Everyone has something that they can give on #GivingTuesday. You can give time or expertise, monetary donations large or small, simple acts of kindness, food or clothing, just a smile and saying thanks. Several staff members at the Partnership will be giving back by doing a cleanup of our Frog Hollow community. Wondering what you can do to give back on #GivingTuesday? The Partnership would be honored if you would support our campaign!
In our first year of participating in #GivingTuesday, the Partnership raised $1,700. Last year we raised $3,200 with the help of a generous matching gift from Charlotte and John Suhler. This year our goal is to raise $5,000. The only way we can do that is with your help! Every dollar raised will allow us to do the important work of convening experts and people impacted by homelessness and the lack of affordable housing across the state. We bring people together to generate ideas, solutions, and find the resources to end homelessness and create affordable homes for everyone in Connecticut. Among other things, right now we’re working to finish the job of ending chronic homelessness, and to end youth and family homelessness by 2020.
If you choose to give to the Partnership on #GivingTuesday, we’re giving back to you as well by raffling off some incredible prizes! The prizes will be announced the week of November 13th on Facebook and Twitter, so make sure you’re following us to see the items and experiences that you have a chance to earn simply for doing something good!
As part of the Partnership’s #GivingTuesday campaign, staff members will be sharing small videos about why they choose to give.
"I give because it makes me feel great knowing that my contribution is helping someone who needs it. Even the smallest gift means something big to someone in need!"
Be sure to follow us on social media to find out why other staff give. Hopefully this will inspire you to give as well!
Every act of generosity counts. If you’re interested in joining the Partnership’s #GivingTuesday initiative, you can visit our campaign page. In addition, you or your business can help support through becoming a matching donor or contributing to our selection of raffle items. Please contact Amanda Trothier at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss further.
