The U.S. Department of Education has recently released data on the number of students experiencing homelessness who were enrolled in local education agencies during the 2013-2014 academic year. The data identifies 1.36 million students as experiencing homelessness nationwide. In Connecticut, a total number of 2,964 students enrolled in public schools were identified as experiencing homelessness.
This tool may serve as an advocacy tools for school officials and advocates working to enact new policies and programs to help assist schoolchildren experiencing homelessness.
