Open Communities Alliance (OCA) recently released a new report titled “Zoning for Equity: Identifying Planning and Zoning Barriers to Affordable Housing” exploring impediments to the development of multifamily and affordable housing.
In the report, OCA analyzes planning and zoning practices across twelve Connecticut towns to identify barriers to the development of multifamily and affordable housing. OCA examined the planning and zoning practices in the following towns: Avon, Berlin, Darien, Fairfield, Glastonbury, Madison, North Haven, Orange, Ridgefield, Southbury, Southington, and Westport. These towns were identified to have lower levels of affordable housing and diversity as compared to surrounding towns and the state.
