Resources to Facilitate HUD-VASH Implementation

31 May 2012

The US Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH), the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) all have tools to assist with HUD-VASH Implementation. USICH has an Online HUD-VASH toolkit, HUD has a HUD-VASH Best Practices working document, and the VA has a HUD-VASH Resource Guide. Below are descriptions and links to each.

USICH Online HUD-VASH Toolkit
This toolkit is for providers, local Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMCs) and others who are directly involved with placing Veterans in housing. The toolkit is designed to assist them with locating and targeting housing and other services to Veterans experiencing homelessness.

HUD’s HUD-VASH Best Practices Working Document
This document highlights the most effective ways to administer HUD-VASH. The strategies are taken from reports and conversations with Public Housing Agencies, federal agencies, and community partners to show what has worked in the field.

VA HUD-VASH Resource Guide
The target audiences for this resource guide are the case managers and individuals who work with Veterans who are homeless.  The guide is meant to give them the tools to more effectively serve the many needs of the population of Veterans who experience homelessness.
