HUD Releases Family Unification Program NOFA

On October 18, 2019, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced its 2019 Family Unification Program Notice of Funding Availability. This grant provides rental assistance to families and youth who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and have been involved with the Child Welfare System.

SAMHSA Grants for the Benefit of Homeless Individuals

On Wednesday, October 16, 2019, The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) issued a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for applications for fiscal year 2020 Grants for the Benefit of Homeless Individuals (GBHI). The purpose of this program is to support the development and/or expansion of local implementation of a community infrastructure that integrates substance use disorder treatment, housing services and other critical services for individuals (including youth) and families experiencing homelessness.

HUD Releases New System Performance Visualization Tool

In June 2019, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development rolled out Stella Performance Module (Stella P), a new innovative tool that presents complex homeless system performance measures data using visuals. Stella uses Longitudinal Systems Analysis (LSA) data to share insights into past system performance and opportunities for future improvement.

2019 PIT Count Shows Decline in Homelessness in CT

The Connecticut 2019 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count and Youth Outreach and Count, conducted on the night of January 22, 2019, found that 3,033 people were experiencing homelessness across the state. This shows a 32% decrease from 2007.

Since the first PIT Count was conducted in 2007, this year’s count officially represents the lowest total ever in a statewide PIT Count, encompassing all populations.
